Westwood Lutheran Church

Westwood Lutheran Church is an award-winning project designed by Ed Sovik, FAIA in 1963.  Kodet Architectural Group was asked to prepare a master plan, phasing plan, and long-term vision for the facility. The project will be phased over the next 20 years and construction on the sanctuary (phase one) was completed in August of 2010.

The new design was able to maintain the original architecture while restoring and remodeling the existing facility accommodate current worship needs.

Some of the goals were:

  • Redesigning the seating to accommodate a variety of liturgies
  • New lighting that meets today’s needs for lumens and low maintenance
  • Integration of audio / visual systems, including projection
  • Acoustical design to accommodate contemporary worship
  • Energy efficient upgrades to windows, lighting, and controls
  • Mechanical system upgrades
