Whittier Community School for the Arts is located in an area of Minneapolis noted for community activism. The planning process for this Minneapolis Public School included numerous meetings with faculty, staff, administration, neighborhood and all stakeholders. Issues of new curriculum, technology and site locations called for a fresh model for learning. The pitch roof form, parking recessed under the building and landscaping were laid out with attention to the streetscape, adjacent park and the neighboring houses. The School is most noted for its new technology in indoor air quality.
