Lakes International Language Academy, a charter elementary school emphasizing Spanish as a second language, commissioned Kodet to convert a former hospital building and site into their new school. As a start up school, the three phase building project allowed the school to grow each of three consecutive years.
To accommodate the full student body of 500 students, in kindergarten through sixth grade, a two-story building addition provides 14 new classrooms and a gymnasium. Interior remodeling incorporates new art, music and science teaching spaces as well as additional classrooms and upgraded support functions. Exterior improvements provided for safer bus and parent drop-off. The third phase will add a new media center and entrance to the expanding school.
