Redefining the liturgical and architectural goals of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and School led to the conclusion that a new worship space was required. The existing worship area was almost completely removed to accommodate the new, larger space.
A portion of the existing worship space became the new gathering space, separated from the new worship space addition by only a wall of glass. The square design of the new worship space allows for tall windows on two sides, washing the space with natural light. The high ceiling increases the sense of scale and creates a livelier acoustic atmosphere. A light scoop brings sunlight in from above. Seating is arranged around the altar and gently sloped floors allow for better sight lines.
